GRANGERS
It is a company that addresses the consistent and regular outdoor enthusiasts and produces specialized products for the maintenance, cleaning and waterproofing of technical clothing, footwear and outdoor equipment, such as waterproof or down clothing.
Founded in 1937 in Derbyshire, England, with a passion for outdoor activities and a love for the unpredictability of the British weather, its core principle is "whatever the conditions, one can focus on and experience any adventure or experience with the security that comes from looking after one's equipment". It continually invests in product development, remaining committed to sustainability and the environment and ensures that its products are environmentally responsible. Its slogan is "Think differently, live differently and explore more".
Grangers is the only company in Europe that GORE-TEX trusted and, in collaboration with them, developed the new generation of maintenance and care products for footwear and clothing using the GORE-TEX membrane. These products do not waterproof the GORE-TEX membrane, which is waterproof anyway, but the outer part of the footwear and clothing to help the membrane function better.
Today its products are available in more than 50 countries worldwide.
Fabsil is a subsidiary of Grangers founded in 1963 and produces corresponding waterproofing and protection products for tents, equipment and cars, working exclusively with the world's largest clothing, footwear and outdoor equipment companies, e.g. North Face, Patagonia.
Gore-Tex® has turned 40 and recommends Grangers products as the best for the protection and maintenance of all Gore-Tex membrane products!
EOCA
GRANGER'S is proud to be a member of the(European Outdoor Conservation Association EOCA (EOCA), which has announced a one million euro increase which will be invested in conservation projects around the world. EOCA Acting Director and EMEA's CEEN Officer John Jansen said: "it is very significant in such a short space of time to have raised such a substantial amount of money."
GREEN THINKING
GRANGER'S is always ahead in developing environmentally friendly products. GRANGER'S was the first company to develop water-based footwear and apparel care products. They are also the first footwear and apparel care products company to be a member of the Bluesign System. With sustainability and respect for the environment in mind, Granger's creates environmentally friendly products that carry the ISO 14001 international certification.
Today 90% of its production is Bluesign approved and its target is 100%. It currently offers Bluesign-approved protective clothing-clothing and equipment products, noting that it is committed on its part to minimize the constant environmental pressure. GRANGER'S is proud to be able to reach these standards.
The Bluesign standard, is widely accepted and certifies the environmental friendliness of both finished products and the materials and processes carried out up to the final stage of product manufacture. Prior to the production process, the components are subjected to tests and evaluations regarding their toxicity and environmental friendliness. By this process, potentially harmful substances can be identified and eliminated before the production process even starts.
THE CHANGE IN COMPOSITION
Granger's, which is one of the largest companies in its industry, is based on research and development of chemical formulations for maximum waterproofing. The change from the C8 chemical composition was made due to environmental restrictions imposed by the European Union on the use of various chemicals (PFOS and PFOA). As a result of these restrictions, a switch to the C6 FC formulation was made, which does not contain these substances and provides good levels of waterproofing. However, it was not as strong as the previous formulation. While other companies moved towards creating silicone-based waterproofing, Granger's did not believe that this would achieve the right balance between breathability and waterproofing. The APT technology is the result of the research Granger's has done over the years.
THE CONSERVATION OF C6
While APT technology provides similar levels of waterproofing to the C6 formulation, APT is better at eliminating oils and stains from clothing. However, there are many who prefer to use the C6 formulation because it is used in the manufacture of DWR (hydrophobic) garments. Consumers prefer to refresh the hydrophobic finish with the same material as the original material that the fibers of the garments were impregnated with.
